A heritage listed tram station located on Ferrars Street, Albert Park; has been untouched and unused for a prolonged period. A group of investors and companions were inspired to acquire the property and transform the abandoned building into a revitalised work / recreational space. Now referred to as ‘The Station’, these innovative individuals were able to refurbish an internal makeover whilst maintaining the authentic vibrance of the external establishment.

Simply by exploring their options, the group stumbled upon our retractable roof solutions as an effective option to modify the use of an old unsheltered balcony. The Suntech Exxen Model is one of our most popular retractable roof solutions and is versatile in weather protection and functionality to redefine outdoor living spaces. The square-shaped and edgy framework of the balcony made it difficult to visualise the project, yet with our industry leading experience the system was able to be modified to fit. The customisable capacity of Suntech’s systems resulted in a design that could attach the retractable system with varying height differentials in the four structural columns. The bioclimatic operable roof now offers a multi-purpose space delivering sun exposure or the comfort of rain protection.

The aluminum constructed frame of Suntech’s products makes a lighter weight pergola for greater structural integrity. The RAL colour options vary in options with gloss or matte finishes, the Albert Park client was fitted with our highly popular monument matte look. The render of the old tram station and the monument matte finish of our frame complimented the modern polish of the internal makeover and the historical feel of the building.
