SOHO Albury – Retractable Roof

Burton & Carter Architects approached us regarding this project requiring a premium outdoor shading solution for the hotels majour works renovation. In conjunction with Visual Builders we coordinated the removal of the existing Truss roof and sheeting to expose a 5m roof cavity either side of the roof apex.

Architect and Client opted with a highly translucent PVC membrane (Hiraoka Sundream) for each of the retractable roofs to allow as much natural sunlight even when the retractable roofs were closed over.

The retractable roofs are the benchmark in shading roof cavities such as this providing a variety of flexibility to patrons and owners. We installed two bays of retractable roofs spanning 5 meters and projecting out 4 meters. This type of roof is unique and somewhat a tricky build due to access and height but we got the job done on time and to budget.

Architect, Builder and cafe owners were all ecstatic with the outcome of these incomparable retractable roofs fitting perfectly into this unique hotel space. We look forward to with the team again soon.
